Embrace The Darkness - A Sensory Design Experience
DESIGN BRIEF
Theme: Imagine going one step further in your design capabilities. Envision the ability not only to see, touch, and feel design but also to smell the experience. Imagine the sensory experience of Darkness.
This opportunity will * challenge students to use their knowledge to design within a NEW concept * provide students and opportunity to work with a team of sensory designers * (if chosen) showcase the students work at the SOFA DESIGN LAB located in Hall 1 booth #338/334 at the 2011 Interior Decorating Show in Toronto October 27th-30th *
The booth will be fully scented and draped in dark colours throughout five sections corresponding to five elements of energy in design – Water, Tree, Fire, Earth and Metal.
Design Team - consists of Tracy Pepe Scent Designer, and Janet Damianopoulos Sensory Psychology Specialist. Beginning with a white, empty space and adding dark colours, diffusing dark aromas and increasing the flow of energy, they will transform the space into a dark exploratory force that feeds creativity.
Project: 5 Themes - elements of Water, tree (wood), fire, Earth(plant/moss) and metal
Combined with 5 colours - Selected Design students will be challenged to Embrace The Darkness by creating storyboards to design five rooms of a home - kitchen - bathroom - living room - study and bedroom - using the premises of darkness and the five elements of design. Individual storyboards will be featured within a distinctly dark scented space.
