WHAT?

The enRoute Hotel Design Awards, presented in partnership with the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) and IIDEX/NeoCon Canada, will celebrate the best Canadian-designed hotels around the world. Judged by international industry experts Jean-Michel Gathy, Jean Pelland, Todd Saunders and Patricia Urquiola, the awards will recognize the outstanding achievements by Canadian interior designers and architects working in the hospitality realm.

WHY?

For over 50 years, Air Canada’s enRoute magazine has been the country’s leading travel authority, bringing the best in travel to one million global readers each month. We decided it was time to acknowledge the talent of our fellow Canadians who make our time away from home both unique and memorable.

HOW?

The competition is open to all Canadian interior designers and architects working here and abroad. (Canadians working at foreign firms may submit entries as long as they are credited as the lead designer/architect.) The competition is open to new hotels and resorts – as well as properties that have undergone extensive renovations – that were completed between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010. The hotel or resort project may be located anywhere in the world.

Entries may be submitted in any or all of the following 10 categories:

149 rooms or less:

Best Standard Room

Best Suite

Best Lobby

Best Spa or Pool

 

150 rooms or more:

Best Standard Room

Best Suite

Best Lobby

Best Spa or Pool

 

All hotels:

Best Overall Interior Design

Best Overall Hotel Architecture

Entry to the awards is free. Judging will be based on the design’s creativity, aesthetic impact, functionality, comfort, environmental and sustainable features, and innovation. We are looking for projects that take hotel design to the next level, thereby enriching the travel experience. Decisions of the jury are final.

WHEN?

Deadline for entries is 5:00 p.m., March 10, 2011.

Winners will be notified personally and winning entries will be featured in the September issue of Air Canada’s enRoute magazine and at enroute.aircanada.com. Winners will also be honoured at an awards ceremony at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada, presented in partnership with Interior Designers of Canada. By submitting materials, including photography, you acknowledge that these may be used in all print and digital enRoute publications and any promotion for the awards.
