SOFA names Linda Kafta as director of marketing and tenant relations
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (13 September 2010) - The International Centre has named Linda Kafka as director of marketing and tenant relations for SOFA, the area housing its permanent showrooms that was previously known as Canada's Furniture Mart.
Kafta succeeds Roberta (Bobby) Wertman who left the International Centre in early August "to pursue other opportunities," the company said in a statement.
"Linda's passion for design, furniture and community building will bring a new direction and dimension to SOFA," International Centre chief executive officer Michael Prescott said in a statement announcing Kafka's promotion.
Kafka previously served as marketing manager.
Prescott noted Kafka brings more than 20 years of marketing experience in the national and international marketplace to her new role. She was the organizer of the "SOFAbulous" cocktail event held during this year's Canadian Home Furnishings Market, which hosted some 700 design professionals from across the country.
"Linda's proven skill in brand development; her entrepreneurial expertise, and her ability to help others reach optimal success is the ideal fit for SOFA," Prescott said, adding, "Linda's creative spark and her strategic long-term approach to bottom-line growth will catapult SOFA into the future."
Among Kafka's key priorities is to make SOFA resource for professional interior designers and decorators seeking to acquire and furniture and furnishings for their own clients.
She will report to International Centre marketing director Serena Quaglia.
